Delmonico/Molenveld - A New and Winning Partnership in the CT Classic Women's
November 11, 2017
West Hartford, CT
With injuries sidelining their regular partners, Kerri Delmonico and Myrthe Molenveld decided to pair up and see how they would fare as a team. After winning the Connecticut Classic without losing a set, they clearly made a good choice. Seeded second, Delmonico/Molenveld beat Lisa Rudloff and Mariya Slupska in the semifinals before knocking out the top seeds, Florentina Hanisch and Annica van Starrenburg, in the finals. Hanisch/van Starrenburg needed three sets to reach the finals, defeating Jade Curtis and Liz Jaffe, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3, in their semifinal match.
There was fierce competition in the backdraws, with Cooey Lyons/Charlotte Sikora and Katie Adams/Sue Tarzian playing into the darkness. Lyons/Sikora took the win and fifth place in the tournament.
Thank you to tournament director Courtia Worth, who runs a fabulous tournament year after year.
