Jessica Guyaux and Kelley Fischer Edge Sally Jones and Cathy MacKinnon for Cleveland Title

Both the men’s and women’s finals of the Cleveland Masters tournament featured a team from Pittsburgh and a team from Chicago. In the women’s draw, the top-seeded team and multiple Cleveland titleholders Jessica Guyaux and Kelley Fischer of Pittsburgh won in a fierce battle (7-6, 5-7, 6-4) over the third seeds from Chicago, Sally Jones and Cathy MacKinnon.

The men’s final saw the top seeds, Jeronie Barnes and Brad Smith of Chicago, take on the second-seeded Scott Kahler and Casey Watt from Pittsburgh. Again, the Pittsburgh team emerged victorious, 6-4, 6-2.

Featuring players from Chicago, Charlotte, Atlanta, Denver, and Rochester, as well as the usual large Pittsburgh contingent, the Cleveland Masters tournament was a huge success thanks to the organizational skills of Lea Taft and Brent Luce and their committee.
