First, I want to thank everyone for their patience as we lost and regained courts, lost our third seed (who we all missed greatly) and simply got lost going to and from our host clubs. What was not lost was our passion for paddle and a day of fun with new and old friends!
Secondly, and on behalf of all of the Region IIers, Ann Sheedy thank you for honoring us with your presence. We are fortunate to have you at the helm of the APTA and I hope we didn't overwhelm you with our wants and needs - it's all for the love of the game!
Last but not least, we do have winners for all the flights - some just took LONGER than others! Hats off to Meghan McMahon and Kitty Palmer, 2008 GBO Champs who defeated last years Champs Jessie Glidden and Amy Stiga. The team of Cynthia Knight and Leslie Potter outlasted Courtia Worth and Jill Tyron in the quarter reprieve. Judy Helm gets special recognition for staying to the end of this match! Congrats to newcomers, Tiffany Heinemann and Karen McNamara who won the Consolation, the Last Gasp final was shared after one set of play. By the end of the day, Ann Sheedy did say we could make our own rules.....ha
I believe the favorite match of the day was the duel between mother daughter. It was a joy to watch the family event (Allyson Bolduc/Barb Bettigole vs. Michelle Cannon (Allyson's daughter and Rhonda Colvard) and we all know Mother's are always right but do they always have to win?
Nancy Walthall, Jessie and Amy the event would not have gone on without your help.
Cheers and get ready for the Madison Open on January 10, 2009.
