Schwartz & Sheldon and Engel & Martin Snag Milwaukee
OCTOBER 25, 2010
MILWAUKEE, WI
Chicagoland starts its tournament season by joining with Wisconsin players in Milwaukee. A short drive up the tollway, the Milwaukee Open is a perennial favorite for ranking points seekers and tournament junkies alike. This year was no exception.
On Friday it was the women's turn. Although only a 16 draw, this tournament is always extremely strong. How about these numbers: 1 multi-year national champion, 5 top-10 ranked players, 12 top-20 ranked players, and a basket full of recently top ranked and President's Cup players. At the end of the day, it was Christine Schwartz and Chris Sheldon who won the title, defeating Sally Cottingham and Liz Hayward. (Cottingham & Sheldon won the tournament together in 2007).
