Burus/Stoisavljevic Sweep Sound Shore
November 17, 2018
Rye, NY
The top seeds, Sven Burus and Roman Stoisavljevic, came away with the title at the HSS Westchester Sound Shore Invitational, but not without having to fend off some very tough competition. Both semifinal matches were intense, with Burus/ Stoisavljevic dropping the first set, 6-2 to the third seeded team of Michael Montalbano and Louis Volclair before squeaking out a 2-6, 7-6, 6-3 win. On the bottom of the draw, the fourth seeds, Andrew Chan and Eric Fey, needed a third set tiebreaker to seal the upset against the second seeds, Naren Dhamodharan and John Hughes and head to the finals with a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 victory.
There was to be no upset in the finals, as Burus/ Stoisavljevic stayed strong throughout the match, winning a hard-fought 6-4, 6-4 battle.
Thank you to tournament director Nick Bergman.
