On Friday, January 31, the APTA hosted the final Viking APTA Clinic and Exhibition of the 2013/14 season at the South Orange public courts in New Jersey. The APTA provided South Orange with a grant in 2013 to help resurface the courts. The grants and clinics are part of the APTA’s “Grow the Game” initiative.
The clinics started with juniors followed by two adult clinics. Over 40 participants including current and new players experienced the game, with tips from top level pros including Nathan LeFevre, Anthony Cosimano, Anton Mavrin, and Patricio Misitrano. All players in the clinic were also able to talk with Ben Porter, the General Manager of Viking, about Viking products.
Following the clinics the pros played an exhibition in front of a big crowd and fun was had by all including players and spectators. Ann Sheedy, Executive Director of the APTA, and Rob Coster, the APTA President, were on site to provide their support to the event and the local program.
A big thank you to the pros, to Kate Schmidt for helping organizing the event, and to Cade Beach and local teams for providing food and refreshments. Also a big thank you to Viking for their sponsorship of the clinics and exhibitions for the season. We look forward to another great set of clinics and exhibitions starting next fall.
