Nick Johnson, APTA Board Member + Devotee of the Game

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of Nick Johnson’s passing. Nick was a member of the APTA Board, serving in the role of Media Committee Chair and as part of the Sponsorship Committee. Nick joined the APTA Board just two years ago and immediately made an impact. Due to his long and illustrious career in digital media and sales, Nick brought deep knowledge of best communication practices to the APTA and encouraged the leadership and staff to focus on a new digital media strategy. He loved the game of platform tennis, having discovered it about 13 years ago. He spent nine years at the Morris County Golf Club playing competitively; his college tennis experience at Gettysburg College gave him a leg up. However, Nick was very humble about his playing ability. He was a true zealot. As he said, “I like the steep learning curve of the sport, the length of points, and the social camaraderie that is so unique to paddle. I love everything about it.” The APTA Board and staff offer our deepest sympathies to the Johnson family and friends—we were delighted to have met him and worked and played with him.
