2016 Mason Dixon Recap

On October 25th, Greenville CC hosted the 15th Annual Mason Dixon Cup. Captain Mark Holtshneider from the “South” put together, arguably, one of the strongest teams that the “South” has ever assembled, including newbie Guga Concalves.. (We are still checking his Region 3 authenticity)..The South’s team also included Trevor Spracklin, Drew Courtney, Ted Easter, Alex Hume, Dale Cathell and Dan Stahl. Not Since 2013 has their team been so heavily weighted!

Captain Simon Peppiatt also assembled a solid team that included 7 of last years Championship team with the addition of Matt Kochis! The “Dynamic Duo” Mike McGrath and Pat Nowlan, Simon Peppiatt/Greg Eger, Jeff Lyon/Andrew Hocker, and Matt Kochis/Justin Poletti. The day looked stacked against the “North”, but as the matches got deep into the day, some match points travelled back and forth in the 3rd set tiebreakers, with the “North” able to swing 3 of the matches in their favor..leaving the match resting on the last round..with the “North” leading the match 8-7 with one last match on the court..Poletti/Kochis pulled off the final match upset with a third set tie breaker win!! North take it 9-7…As per usual the drinks flowed and camaraderie was had by all in the hut as we discuss the fact that Region 3 is winning this years “Presidents Cup”…Watch out everyone! Mark thanks for the colorful shirts..Good choice!!
