Spotlight on MAPTA Women’s Weekend League

Three years ago, Karin Kochis, a Racquets Professional at Whitford Country Club, noticed that many working women were unable to compete in the local women’s leagues, held on weekdays. Kochis established a new, weekend league, with over 200 players from ten clubs currently battling it out on Sundays at 1 pm.

Although originally conceived to give women who couldn’t play during the week a chance to compete, the league also appeals to new players and paddle addicts who are thrilled to have another day to play!

Manufacturers and Philly Cricket are tied for first place in the East Division with one week to go, and Whitford leads in the West division. The season will conclude with a two-team playoff on February 12.
