Farmington Field Club’s repaired courts have new life
The Farmington Field Club in Farmington, Connecticut, welcomed the APTA to its newly renovated courts on September 17 for a free clinic day. Sixty-eight players came out to meet with APTA pros Anton Mavrin, John Hughes, Anton Bobytskyi, and Bernard Schoeman in three breakout sessions for beginner, intermediate, and advanced players.
“We reached out to the APTA on behalf of our members. Because if you’re going to learn something, learn it from the pros,” said David Marshall, General Manager and Director of Tennis.
J.B. Nickels, the club’s new paddle pro, has big plans to build on that momentum by putting the FFC’s newly renovated paddle tennis courts and constructed warming hut to good use. “We want to do more interclub matches that are competitive but fun,” Nickels announced. “These courts are top notch, and our warming hut is unbelievable, so we want to welcome all players—from the very beginners to the advanced pros—to use them.”
Farmington Field Club quickly rebuilt their courts after a savage windstorm blew through town last year, downing trees and doing significant damage to the facility. The APTA Clinic and Exhibition group swept away any last bit of bad Chi with their energy and expertise.
Thanks to Viking for generously sponsoring the APTA Clinics and Exhibitions.
