Old Lyme Appoints New Pro Aaron Ribchinsky

Old Lyme, CT
We always like hearing from the paddle world: Recently we got a note from Reade Quets, of Old Lyme Country Club, in Old Lyme, Connecticut. He wrote: “We are pleased to introduce Aaron Ribchinsky as the new Paddle Tennis Professional, effective October 1. Aaron, who is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and a school teacher in Groton, Connecticut, brings five years of competitive paddle tennis experience along with a passion for introducing young people and adults to paddle tennis. Aaron was an accomplished tennis player at UConn and he is a tennis instructor during the summer months at the Fenwick Borough tennis facility in Old Saybrook.”
Ribchinsky’s energy and youth will be a great asset for the club’s evening mixers for adults and an emerging afternoon junior program, overseen by Russ Bingham. Old Lyme holds a variety of tournaments, including member-guest tournaments, league play, instructional sessions for juniors, and the popular and always entertaining Calcuttas with unique pairings for competitive play. The current season started recently with the “Hasbins Paddle” league. The club started in 1916 as a small informal club organized by a few of Old Lyme’s citizens to promote recreational sport and social activity. Quets stated, “The Old Lyme Country Club paddle tennis programs continues its strong and passionate history.”
The club built a new hut in 2010, with a gas fireplace, a wine refrigerator, and comfortable seating. Their two-court facility has been well-maintained and they are looking forward to a growing program with the addition of Ribchinsky.
Good luck Old Lyme and Aaron.
