Paddle for Purpose Raises Over $20,000
March 6, 2019
Hingham, MA
Paddle for Purpose was hosted by Black Rock Country Club in Hingham, Massachusetts, Cohasset Golf Club, Scituate Racket & Fitness, and Duxbury Yacht Club. More than 70 players participated, mostly from the South Shore of Boston. Players were placed into A and B levels for both men and women, with the women taking the brunt of the snowy weather in the morning. The event culminated in a final for each level, with prizes donated by Viking and Harrow. The area pros, Bill Horne (SRF), Rob Pierce (DYC), Brian Leahy (CGC), and Jason Ronan (BRCC), put on a fun exhibition match to end the day. After the competition wrapped up, players, spouses, and friends gathered at Black Rock for a burger bar, drinks, and music by the Aldous Collins Band. Much of the fundraising came during the silent auction—items included Rolling Stones tickets, lots of paddle great, pizza for a year, and more.
The proceeds from the event benefit Cardinal Cushing Centers in Hanover, MA. Cardinal Cushing Centers supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, providing possibilities for growth and advancement.
Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, and players for contributing to a great day and a great cause.
