Eric Moran, Racquet Sports and Facility Services Manager for the Lake Bluff Park District, Illinois, has announced the hiring of Denise Murphy as the new Assistant Paddle Professional.
Murphy and partner Alison Morgan, both members of Lake Bluff’s Series 1 championship team, are currently ranked 22nd nationally in platform tennis. Murphy was also part of the winning President’s Cup teams in 2014 and 2015.
Murphy joins the Lake Bluff staff after working at the Knollwood Club in Lake Forest, Illinois. “I can’t wait to really get started,” she said. “It’s going to be a lot of fun working with Eric and all the players, most of whom I already know. I’m totally psyched.”
Outside of platform tennis, Murphy is the head coach of the Lake Forest High School girls’ tennis team. She has guided the Scouts to state titles in 2010, 2012, and 2013, and was named the National High School Coach of the Year for Illinois in 2011. She also dedicates time to helping the House of Peace domestic violence shelter and raises money for local charities through her “Play for Peace” event and “For the Love of the Game” tennis camp.
“I am very excited to have Denise join me in teaching team drills, group lessons, and private lessons,” Moran said. “She is a great player, a fantastic coach, and an extremely positive person, and I’m really looking forward to working with her.”
