Kansas City, MO
On Friday, December 5th, the APTA Viking Clinics and Exhibitions headed to Kansas City. Despite the rain earlier in the day, there was a great turnout for an afternoon and evening full of clinics.
The day started with almost 20 juniors new to the sport of platform tennis trying out the game. Under the direction of professionals Nathan LeFevre (Chair of APTA’s Clinics and Exhibitions Committee), Steve DeRose, Brett Kraft, and Victor Vidal, the juniors learned all areas of the game concluding with a competition on the screens. Following the juniors, adult groups hit the courts with about 30 adults participating in the clinics, all eager for new tips to take to the court. The crowd stayed to watch an exhibition set played by the pros, who then stayed around to play with the locals. A fun day was had by all, and hopefully the sport will continue to grow in Kansas City, particularly with the junior players.
A big thank you to Homestead Country Club for hosting, and the APTA and Viking for sponsoring the clinic.
The next free clinic will be held in Quechee, Vermont, on Saturday, December 27.
Happy Holidays!
