Public-Access Paddle Comes to Atlanta
January 12, 2016
Atlanta GA
On a Friday evening in December, just hours after the paint had dried on the final court, the Atlanta platform tennis community celebrated the completion of the city’s first public-access paddle courts. More than 100 people participated in an evening of clinics and exhibitions at the Bitsy Grant Tennis Center.
Headlining the event were pro Alex Bancila and local favorite Graham McNerney, who put on an amazing exhibition enjoyed by all in attendance. The event also featured junior clinics, a Willy’s food truck, and a raffle with prizes provided by Viking Athletics.
The facility features three brand-new courts, and a soon-to-be completed warming hut with a rooftop observation deck. Clinics, lessons, and league play are all being offered at the new facility.
The Atlanta paddle community is abuzz with excitement about public-access paddle and their first facility with a warming hut. Bitsy Grant will be the host site of the 11th annual Peachtree Invitational scheduled for February 19-21, 2016.
