Martin Bostrom and Annica van Starrenburg Claim Singles Titles

The Eastern States Singles National Championships returned to Greenwich Country Club after a two year hiatus on Saturday, September 30th. Sixteen men and four women kept the courts full at GCC while the weather was perfect all day long. The music was blasting, the fans were oohing and aahing, and the players were sweating (singles is tough!).

Congratulations go out to Martin Bostrom who defeated Sebastian Bredberg in an exciting three set men’s final, while Annica van Starrenburg defeated Masha Slupska for the women’s title.

Carrie Rabuse provided the special prizes that were coveted by all competitors; the winners of each draw getting either a handmade platter or handmade tissue box. Tournament Director Michael Montalbano (Monte) already plans on running the singles tournament next year and is looking for many more players to play!
