Mark Holtschneider and Rusty Wright Win Men’s 55+ Championship

The first of five Senior National age group Championships finished early Friday evening. The final of the APTA Men’s 55+ National Championship featured the two top seeds with a new team of Mark Holtschneider and Rusty Wright facing the number one seeded team and defending champions Scott Bondurant and Tim McAvoy.

The cousins were unable to defend their title as Holtschneider and Wright played flawless platform tennis to capture the title, 6-3, 6-4. This was Wright’s fourth Senior National title and Holtschneider’s first. After playing against each other for 25 years, Holtschneider and Wright paired up for a very obviously successful partnership.
