The Beat Goes On! Scott Estes, Sr., and Lloyd Ucko Defend Men’s 60+ Title

Scott Estes, Sr., continues to add to his medal total. The 2013 APTA Men’s 60+ National Championship was Estes’s 16 title.  This was Ucko’s second having won the 60’s last year with Estes.

It wasn’t an easy victory, as Estes and Ucko had to win three straight three-setters and in the finals won 7-5 in the third over the second seeds Jean Kempner and Jim McNitt. Kempner’s showing was quite remarkable since he now lives in the non-paddle world of Las Vegas and therefore his golf game merits most of his attention.

The Men’s 60+ Nationals was the first championship, played at the historic New York Athletic Club, over the long weekend. Thanks goes to Chris Tully, Marco Grangeiro, Bill Tully and Brian Woods for their all their hard work. The weather cooperated for the most part with only sun and some wind to complicate matters.
