Last Minute Team Captures National Title

APTA Mixed 60+ Nationals

The last minute teaming of Diane Straus Tucker and Jim McCready (on left in picture) was no barrier to winning the gold medal in the APTA’s Mixed 60+ National Championship.  This was Straus Tucker’s 20th national title and McCready’s first.  Straus Tucker and McCready defeated Scott Estes and Muffin Slonaker (on right in photo) 6-4, 6-4.  This was Diane’s third year in a row that she has won a senior mixed title.  She won the Mixed 50+ Championship with Ken Persson in 2010 and in 2009 she won with Tim McAvoy. The final championship weekend of the year closed the books on a frustrating APTA championship season for Scott Estes who had three 2nd place finishes this year in APTA senior championships.
