New Husband-Wife Champs Morgan, 3-peaters Enica-Arraya in Mixed

March 21, 2016
Cincinnati, OH

Cincinnati was the host of the 2016 APTA Mixed and Husband/Wife Nationals, a major national championship event and the last live streaming video event of the season.

In the Husband/Wife Nationals, the title was taken by Alison and Adam Morgan of Lake Bluff, IL. Both are high level regulars at national tournaments: Alison with an individual women's national ranking of 29 and Adam with an individual men's national ranking of 28. They defeated runners-up Amy and Brian Heil 6-0, 6-7, 6-1 in the final. A twist of fate gave the Heils another run at the Morgans in the quarter final of the Mixed Nationals the next day, but Morgans again prevailed, 7-6, 6-4. This is the first national championship for both Alison and Adam.

The Mixed Nationals was once again the stage for Roxy Enica and Juan Arraya, who, after a three set scare in the first round against Montanans Susie and Dave Luebbe, worked their way expeditiously through the draw to a final against Heather Prop and Rob Bakker, where Enica and Arraya dispatched Prop and Bakker 6-4, 6-1 to take their third consecutive title.

Congratulations to all the winners and finalists, and thank you to the team in Cincinnati who put on a great event.
