Atlantic-Classic-Logo-150Juan Martinez-Arraya and Lennart Jonason survived a spate of near upsets to defend their crown at the Atlantic Classic PCQ/NRT, hosted by the Essex Fells Country Club. The only one of the top four seeds to make the semi-finals, Arraya and Jonason didn't lose a set the entire tournament, but that doesn't mean they didn't face some tough challenges.

In the semis against Nathan LeFevre and Anthony Cosimano, Arraya and Jonason were down 5-3, 40-love, before pulling the set out. In the finals, they were down 5-4, 30-love, against Marco Grangeiro and George Wilkinson before winning the last three games.

Grangeiro and Wilkinson had upset Drew Broderick and Chris Gambino in the quarters and Scott Falatek and Vlatko Najdek in the semis. Falatek and Najdek defeated defending National Champion Mark Parsons and partner Alex Bancila in the quarters. LeFevre and Cosimano beat Jon Lubow and Steve DeRose in a rematch of a terrific match in the round of 16 at last year’s Nationals.
