Johan Du Randt and Mark Parsons Four-peat at UBS Boston Men’s

February 1, 2016
Weston, MA

Johan du Randt has never lost his own tournament. This year was no exception. Paired with Mark Parsons for the fourth year in a row, the two top-seeds lost only one set before heading into the finals. The draw was deep, with almost all of the top 20 teams in attendance. Their opponents, America’s sweethearts John Hughes and Marc Powers, hadn’t lost any sets before heading into the finals. The unseeded duo’s accomplishments on the court were impressive. As for the winners, many, many platform tennis fans were delighted to see them in the winner’s circle again. Du Randt and Parsons won, 6-3, 5-7, 7-5. Both teams will be at the last APTA Grand Prix event of the season, the Philly Open.

With prize money of $10,000 on the table, almost all of the top 30 teams were in attendance. Congratulations to all the players, and great big thank you to all of the sponsors: UBS, Boston Private, LCMG Investments, WAC (Worcester Air), Reflex Lighting, Aztek, Corcoran & Havlin Insurance, Mayflower Brewery, Narragansett Brewing Co., Gyde, and Viking. Thanks also to all the hut managers and volunteers and the area clubs that supported the event.
