The 2020 CT Shoreline Men’s 95+ paddle tournament was played on Saturday, January 11, at the Essex Platform Tennis Club. It was a beautiful day and the food was great, drinks were flowing, and the play was tremendous! In the end, the very formidable team of Mike Fried and former National Champion Jerry Albrikes prevailed 6-2, 7-5 over the Essex team of John Paternoster and Geoff Cartier in a hard-fought battle. The consolation final was an all Essex affair as Kevin Joyce and Joe Trausch defeated Glenn Ufland and Phil Johnson, 6-2,5-7, 10-6. The conso reprieve saw Josh Krell and Curt Robinson take down the Longmeadow squad of Steve McKenna and Mike Freedman, 7-6, 6-4. Finally, the quarterfinal reprieve between Hugh Duffy and Jamie Childs versus Glenn Marshall and yours truly was agreed to be played at a later date. I’d like to thank Olive Oyls for another great lunch and everyone who played and came to watch. It was a great day and looking forward to seeing y’all next year!

The APTA would like to thank Tournament John Bauman for running another great event at Essex.
