Dave Acselrod and Matt Arciero Power through CT Shoreline B

Now that the dust (or at least the rain) has settled, congratulations to Dave Acselrod and Matt Arciero, last year’s finalists (on different teams) who joined forces to win it all. They overpowered Michael Chen and Chris Toft in two sets.

I would like to thank everyone who came to this year’s event. We saw the return of Rob and Mike Hawkins from Nantucket. The Hawkins brothers definitely got their money's worth by playing six matches and winning the Consolation bracket over Gary Weiner and Kent Griffiths of Longmeadow.

Mark Tulenko drove over eight hours from Virginia to play with his son, Tyler, but had to withdraw from their final match in the Consolation Reprieve due to injury. Hopefully they will return next year fully healed and ready to battle.

The Consolation Reprieve semifinals became the finals, with father and son, TJ and Jeffrey Riggio, steamrolling yours truly and Eric Dahl in the first set, 5-1. My teammate and I righted the ship and dug out the “W” in two long sets.

As far as the Quarter Reprieve, Bryan Adinolfi and Brent Dickman, who were chomping at the bit to play their last match yet were forced to wait as the back draw was progressing, were victorious over Bryan Rodgers and Russ Burgess.

Thank you to the following people who were instrumental in helping make the tournament run as smooth as possible:
Hut Commander extraordinaire, Kristy White, who just needed a Bloody Mary to clear her head and calm her nerves. She cannot wait to help out next year. (We will get her a Bloody earlier.)
Russ Burgess, for running things down in Stonington and allowing us to use the COMO courts
Hugh Duffy, Mike Loyd, Eric Dahl, Jamie Childs, and TJ Riggio for setup and cleanup help
Nell McGriff Brewer for her hard work helping all with their aching muscles
Scott Bauer of Kona Brewing for supplying the beer and extra prizes
Scott Plains Tavern for providing us with a great lunch and great atmosphere
