I want to thank everyone for participating in another great event. The weather gods were very kind to us unlike other years (blizzard, thunderstorms, and pouring rain). The tournament started smoothly until our EPTC President Todd Pozefsky decided to mess up the draw and all of the matches in Guilford by winning with his partner Morgan White in a grueling 2.5 hour, three-set match that finished with a tiebreaker in the third. Pozefsky/White tried to back up that victory in the second round but came up a bit short.

Main Draw: Bryan Adinolfi and Brent Dickman won the final against John Paternoster and John Bauman in an all-Essex final 6-4, 6-2.
Quarter Reprieve: Mark Bast and Jeff Forseman from Boston defeated Russ Burgess and Derek Johnson from Stonington in a third set super tiebreaker. This tiebreaker would not be interrupted by the amazing Baumanucci firework display.
Consolation: Taken in a walkover by Mike Loyd and Kevin Joyce both from EPTC. Something about Tim Scanlon having to get back home so he could attend a fancy event. Mike Freedman wanted to play Canadian against the EPTC partners.
Consolation Reprieve: The team of Coach Steve Griggs and his former college player Steve Cass defeated the strong father/son team of Josh and Aaron Krell, 6-2, 6-2.

I would like to thank Scotch Plains Tavern for providing us with a great lunch, Nell for her massages in the Essex Hut, Old Lyme Country Club and Guilford Racquet Club for allowing us to use their venues all day. I would especially like to thank our Hut Commander Sally Riggio for guiding us smoothly through another crazy day.

The APTA thanks Rich Goldfeder for running another great event at Essex Paddle Tennis Club.
