Nic Dorfling and Steve Godiksen Surprise at CT Shoreline Men's B

       Champions Nic Dorfling and Steve Godiksen claim their prize bags.

Mother Nature provided much different conditions than last year’s thunderstorms and driving rain. We had beautiful sunshine all day. The temperatures were chilly and as they dipped colder at sunset challenged the flow of beer. The full draw had a great, competitive day. The finals pitted newcomer Nic Dorfling with crafty veteran Steve Godiksen against two up-and-coming Jersey Boys, Alex Wood and James Glen, in a great three-set match. Goat and Nic prevailed, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. To get to the finals, Glen and Wood took down Matt and Peter Arciero and Goat and Dorf steamrolled over Paternoster and Goldfeder.

The back draws had many hard fought matches. In the Consolation, Kevin Joyce and Martin Griswold defeated Phil Cameron and Ryan Byrnes, 6-4, 6-1. In the Consolation Reprieve, father and son duo Mike and Ryan Carr defeated Mike St. John and Mike Callahan, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. Hopefully Mike Carr is enjoying the warm sun in Cancun after this great day with Ryan.

Finally, in a long-fought Reprieve final, Brad Hoffman and Craig Waddington of Longmeadow took down locals Ryan McGetrick and Dave Rogers, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. Andy Lovejoy was still looking for one more match at the end of the day but had to settle for one more Redhook!
