Carla Lavrusky and Sarah Lynch-Balint win 2017 Columbus Women's Open PCQ

The 2017 Women's Columbus Open Viking PCQ hosted by Elysium Tennis just outside Columbus Ohio was a tremendous success. The weather was perfect and the draw was a full thirty-two teams with participants from Columbus, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Atlanta. The defending champions and number one seeds Abby Hand and Amy Heil fell in the semifinals to Carla Lavrusky and Sarah Lynch-Balint while the number two seeds Janet Mazzola and Lea Morris were ousted in the quarterfinals. The other semifinal match pitted Anneliese Adkinson and Chris Ford against Michelle Jarrett and Pam Lippy. Fresh off their upset of Mazzola and Morris, Jarrett and Lippy knocked off the number four seeds in straight sets to land a spot in the final versus Lavrusky and Lynch-Balint. In the final match, Lavrusky/Lynch-Balint stormed out of the gates to take a commanding lead and held off Jarrett/Lippy to take the first set 6-3. The tide turned a little in the second set as Jarrett/Lippy took the set 6-3. The tournament came down to one set and it was tight all the way as Lavrusky/Lynch-Balint eventually took home their first title winning the third set 6-4.
