Friday November 18th was a great day to sit by the pool.  A bit warm for paddle but we made the best of it.  Tank tops and tennis skirts were featured fashion items.  24 teams made for a deep draw.  Players came from Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and Atlanta.

The DC Open Women's PCQ always falls the week before Thanksgiving, so the awards table features holiday themed bakeware.  This year the champions, Karin Kochis and Cindy Prendergast walked away with heavy marble rolling pins and Viking backpacks after defeating Demer Holleran and Sue Pijawka in a 3rd set tiebreaker.  It was an awesome display of sophisticated paddle that thrilled the crowd. Semifinalists were Lisa Murray and Kristin Mumford and Erin Nicholson Ortiz and Hall of Famer Diane Straus.

Thank you to tournament director (and semifinalist) Erin Nicholson Ortiz and the new Director of Racquets at the Chevy Chase Club, Gustavo "Guga" Goncalves, who kept courts full and spirits high.  Matches ran from 9am until after 7:30pm.
