John Stefanik and Tim Brooke Win Way Way Way Over 50

The 12th annual Wilmington WAY WAY WAY OVER 50 Tournament was held on Saturday, March 8 at the Greenville Country Club. The tournament was postponed (by an approaching snow storm, what else?) from its originally scheduled date in December, 2013.

The weather finally cooperated, leading some of the players to wear shorts and t-shirts, rather than 4 layers of vests and jackets. 9 different paddle clubs were represented in the draw.

In the main draw final the #1 seed, John Stefanik/Tim Brooke, played #2 seed, Lonnie Adams/Bob Collins. After losing the first set, Stefanik/Brooke came back to win the final 2 sets. This was John Stefanik’s third title with his third different partner. He is just one title shy of Bob Harrison’s 4 titles with 4 different partners.

In the back draws, the finals were all close. Phil Chapman/Eric Christopher won the Consolation. Jay Wright/Barry Snyder won the Reprieve. In the Gut Bucket final Al Strubilla/Tim McCloskey defeated Whitney Baldwin/Greg Clower.
