Unseeded Rose Brothers Too Thorny For Competition at Hinsdale

February 10-11, 2018
Hinsdale, IL

2018 Hinsdale Men28 teams vied for the title at the Hinsdale Men’s Challenge, with the unseeded team of Paul Rose and Pete Rose knocking out both the first and second seeds en route to the title.

In the top half of the draw, the second seeds, Tyler Fraser and Paulo Gonzalez reached the finals, taking out the unseeded teams of Ryan Edlefsen/Paget Neave in the quarters and Adam Shaeffer/Ben Williams in the semis. Shaeffer/Williams had previously pulled off a quarterfinal upset by beating the fourth seeds, Jeronie Barnes and Mike Marino.

Rose/Rose dismissed the top seeds, Brian Compton and Graham McNerney, in the bottom quarterfinal, and then got through unseeded William Colmar and Adam Morgan in the semis. Colmar/Morgan had earned their place in the semis by beating the third seeds, Rob Bakker and Ben McKnight. After losing the first set, Rose/Rose rallied to beat Fraser/Gonzalez in a tough championship match.
