Thea Dolan and Jan Linehan Ride the Wind at Island B

A cold and windy Saturday greeted the 12 teams (from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, Long Island, and Rhode Island) at the Women’s Island B, hosted by the Conanicut Yacht Club in Jamestown, Rhode Island, and the Newport Country Club in Newport, RI. The new paddle hut at Conanicut had a fire going, Sonos playing, the courts live streaming, and food aplenty (catered by Luigi’s in Johnston).

Thea Dolan and Jan Linehan from Cape Cod went head to head in the finals with local Alyce Dwyer and Mainerd Linda Brenske. Brenske/Dwyer took the first set, 6-1, and then the switch got thrown. Dolan/Lineman won the next two sets, earning the title.

Thank you to Tournament Directors Meg Myles and Alyce Dwyer, hut commanders Evan Smith and Jacques Falise, and to a fantastic, fun group of women who didn’t want to leave.
