Lanthier Sisters Are Runway Worthy at SIS Tournament
February 4, 2015
Rochester, NY
The 9th annual Ladies SIS Charity Tournament went designer in Rochester, New York, not usually recognized for its fashion forwardness. The all-day tournament, held January 17th, filled with over 100 pink teams, is one of the largest platform tennis fundraiser events of the year. (All levels are welcome, and all of the courts to be found in upstate New York are taken over.)
Mulligans, serve do-overs, were for sale as part of the creative fundraising that happens at the event along with a well-attended Chinese Auction. The final tally this year, an astonishing $32,500 raised for SIS, which stands for Sustain, Inspire, Survive, a charity that supports breast cancer patients.
Every playing group was named for a designer, from the well-known Coco Chanel to the more refined Fiorucci. That may have inspired the Canadian sisters Suzanne and Sara Lanthier to pull out the boob tube, possibly from Versace’s summer line.
The slideshow, created by Kathleen Kilmer, shows the dedication and non-ending enthusiasm for the tournament. Thanks to Lisa Hayes and all of the organizers, volunteers, and participants for another inspirational and well-attended event.
