2017 Lake Forest OpenThe #1 seeds, Hallie Bodman and Liz Hayward, held up their top billing and won the Lake Forest Women’s Open, but their competition didn’t make it easy for them. In the semifinals, fourth seeded Alison Morgan and Wendy Shpiz gave Bodman/Hayward all they could handle, taking the first set 7-5 before Bodman/Hayward came back to win the next two. The new team and third seeded Jane McNitt and Chelsea Nusslock had a tough match of their own in the semifinals, taking out the second seeds, Sandy Cvetkovic and Marina Ohlmuller in three sets. The championship match was yet another three-setter, with Bodman/Hayward defeating McNitt/Nusslock 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 for the title.

Thank you to tournament director Marina Ohlmuller for running this very popular tournament.

The tournament benefitted The House of Peace, a shelter for Latina women and children suffering from domestic violence. The House of Peace thanked everyone involved with the 2017 Lake Forest Open with these words:
The House of Peace was the BIG WINNER, as so many Paddle Angels have become part of our Give -A-Night campaign in support of our courageous moms and their irrepressible kids. Our families are so grateful for this opportunity to THANK YOU by remembering each of you and your loved ones in their thoughts & prayers on your chosen night. The awesome CAMARADERIE and GENEROSITY of our players & our volunteers makes this tourney a very special event!
