Lobs for Love A Charitable Paddle Tournament & Round Robin to benefit Oasis - A Haven for Women and Children

On Tuesday, October 11, the 13th Lobs for Love Paddle Tournament and Round Robin was held to benefit Oasis – A Haven for Women and Children. Oasis is a nonprofit organization serving impoverished women and children in Paterson, NJ. The event was sold out with seventy four paddle players participating in the tournament and sixteen players in the round robin! The tournament participants played at Brookside Racquet & Swim Club in Allendale and Indian Trail Club in Franklin Lakes while those players in the round robin enjoyed a beautiful morning at Upper Ridgewood Tennis Club in Ridgewood. By the afternoon, all the players gathered at Brookside where they enjoyed lunch, vendor shopping and a chance to win wonderful prizes in the tricky tray extravaganza. Many players stayed to cheer for the semi-finalists and finalists. Keri Gmiterek and Jennifer Smith were the tournament winners while Sue Buchanan and Lori Heffernan were the runners-up. For the round robin, Katie Benrubi and Sarah Swenson Tintle won the Lobbers and the Lovers groups, respectively. Thank you to all the participants and event donors. Through their generosity the event raised over $16,000 to benefit Oasis.
