WOMEN

Liz Cruz and Gabi Niculescu fought their way to the top of the leader board at the 16-team draw March to Nationals NRT, beating a tough Florentina Hanisch/Ana Marija Zubori team in a three-set semifinal and using three sets again to defeat Kerri Delmonico and Lauren Gebbia, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The APTA thanks Tournament Director Matt Garavaglia, host club Crest Hollow Country Club, the volunteers, and all of the players for a great event.

MEN

In the men’s March to Nationals NRT, John Hughes and Marc Powers squeaked out their quarterfinal match against Jeremy Court and Felipe Osses-Konig on their way to victory in the finals against Johan du Randt and Stephen Mitchell, 6-3, 6-4. In a 20-team field with many top 20 players, three of the quarterfinals featured three-set battles. In the semifinals, Hughes/Powers handled Blake Anderson/Martin Bostrom (back together for the first time this year) while du Randt/Mitchell needed three sets to move on against Drew Broderick/Sven Burus, 1-6, 7-5, 6-2. Hughes and Powers are now ranked second nationally.
