Janet Lineman and Thea Dolan Nab Nor’Eastern B

It was a day of sunglasses and smiles for the 14 teams who gathered at The Eastern Yacht Club on the neck of Marblehead. The draw was deep for a small B tourney. Some of the first-round match-ups could easily have been the finals, including Mainers Linda Brenske/Lauren DeLong versus locals Sandra Duryea/Missy Barlow, which went on for most of the morning with the Mainers winning, 7-5, 7-6.
Spanning the coast of Massachusetts, Cape Codders Janet Linehan and Thea Dolan brought the level up a notch, and gave all of their opponents a lesson in positioning and patience. The final against Kerry Alvino and Katie Martin was closer than the score.

Tournament Director Dan McCormick ran a good show, keeping the matches moving and providing coaching on the side to some of his favorite players.
