Philadelphia, PA

2017 Paddle RallyTwenty-one years ago, Waynesborough Country Club member Linda Dutton founded the Paddle Rally—a one-day celebration kicking off the Philly paddle season. The event starts with a keynote speaker, an inspiring local breast cancer survivor, followed by round robin paddle tennis play at area clubs. The Paddle Rally was created to honor friends who had battled breast cancer. Cumulatively, the event has raised over $285k to benefit Living Beyond Breast Cancer, an organization that provides support and education to women and their families after cancer has been diagnosed. Meridian Bank was the event’s presenting sponsor.
This annual day of paddle camaraderie for a cause has grown to an event of 250 participants from area clubs, with 39 courts used, 40 committee members, and the support of 21 local paddle pros. Linda’s advisory board includes Leila Safford, Joy Susanin, and Elizabeth Unger. Radley Run paddle pro, Laurie Hissey, was the guest speaker at the breakfast gathering at Aronimink Golf Club. She is one of the famous McAvoy paddle family, an incredible ambassador for junior paddle, and an inspiration on and off the courts.
The Paddle Rally thanks all of the sponsors, participants, planners, and pros, for their support of an incredible day of camaraderie.
