Generous Fundraiser for Bennet Cancer Center

The 7th Annual Paddle with a Purpose event, on September 18, kicked off the season in Darien, Connecticut, and benefited a great cause.

Tournament Director Kelly McCoy writes: “The weather cooperated, actually it was really hot. Many continued to hydrate at the end of the day with incredible margaritas from sponsor Viva Zapata (thanks MaryEllen). Thanks to Stamford Hospital who allows us to run a wonderful fundraiser to benefit Bennet Cancer Center. We all appreciate the support and generosity of Kari Pollak and Chris Riendeau. Thank you to Sue Martin for taking the reins of head hut commander from Susan Lovejoy, who has handled that role for the first six years of the tournament. I was lucky enough to have Susan as my partner this year—very humble and understated and she carried me throughout the day. Thanks to the hut commanders at Waveny (Bambi Riegel), Country Club of New Canaan (Julie Halloran), and Woodway Country Club (Rachel Riendeau).”
