Heath and Bender Circle the Wagons at Pioneer Valley 95+

November 21, 2016
Longmeadow, MA

A full draw of 28 teams and participants came from New Hampshire, Vermont, Boston, Cape Cod, Connecticut and Rhode Island to play in Western Massachusetts at the Pioneer Valley Men’s 95+. The winning team of Steve Heath and Darryl Bender upset last year's tournament champion Bill Durfee and Geoff Cartier in a three-set second round match. The weather was great for paddle and the Longmeadow Field Club was crowded all day with spectators watching the action. The last match did not end until after 6:00 PM. Fittingly, it was the Last Chance final, with the crowd chanting, "We want one more set."
