Amy Hutter and Kathleen Buckley Repeat at Pioneer Valley

On March 1st, a day that started on the chilly side but became a pleasant day of platform tennis, the 5th Annual Pioneer Valley Women’s Open tournament took place at the Field Club in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. With a draw of 20 teams, the day was busy but well-coordinated by our hut commander Jeff Morneau, while Barbara Horne handled food and refreshments.
Amy Hutter and Kathleen Buckley once again took home the top trophy by winning over the duo of Kelly Hellstein and Yvonne Ting, 6-1, 6-1. Quarter Reprieve winners were Amy Chafee and Deb Schmutzler in a three-set barn-burner. Trish Griggs and Jen Bauman took home the Consolation prize after losing the first set. Peggy O'Brien and Diane Mayland won the Consolation Reprieve.
