Maria Shanahan and ML James Play Great at Plain Jane

The first Plain Jane tournament of the year went off without a hitch, until there was a hitch. Maria Shanahan and ML James took on Sarah Davidson and Kristi Poehlmann in the finals, with long, exciting points in the first set. Unfortunately, Davidson/Poehlmann had to default due to an on-court injury in the beginning of the second set. Shanahan/James were gracious winners of their default championship.

Other than that, it was a fun and relaxed day with a great group of women. Thanks go to Rich for handling the draw and making sure that matches went out as quickly and smoothly as possible. Thanks to Patty Goldfeder for getting the first Plain Jane tournament up and running. Like the Average Joe series, the Plain Jane events are for women who want to compete against women of similar level in the B or C range.
