Starlight Singles Championship
MARCH 15, 2010
CHICAGO, IL
If you play platform tennis in Chicago, you have probably received this invitation. Louis Jacobsohn and others have organized a singles tournament to support the Starlight Foundation. Starlight Midwest is a nonprofit dedicated to helping seriously ill children and their families cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activities
Singles is intriguing, odd and perhaps a little scary to many paddle players, but it has been played since the very beginning, and there is growing support for it. It can definately take you out of your comfort zone, but it also presents a whole new set of strategic questions. Do I follow my serve to net? If so, when? How has the lob dynamic changed? Where do I put my return of serve? How do I conduct a baseline rally? You also get two serves. Imagine being able to bring your big tennis serve to our little court.
With league play wrapped up for the year, it's a great time to have a little spring fling and try out singles. On-Line Sign-Up
