Tournament Director Rich Green said, “Beautiful day for paddle in Chapel Hill this year with lots of sun and cools temps. The small draw allowed us to have a feed-in back draw and to forego the typical back draw tie breaker for the third set. Players came from Pittsburgh, Atlanta, New Jersey, Charlottesville, and North Carolina. In the finals (Atlanta) Marcel Lima and Mark Morneau defeated (Pittsburgh) Andrew Ong and Max Rubin in a very, very long championship match, 4-6, 7-5, 7-5. In the third place feed-in: (Winston-Salem) John Morris/Bobby Cooper defeated (Chapel Hill) Greg Archer/Rich Green in another long match, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5.”
