2016 Sally
Left to right- Finalists: Jane Foster and Cecilia Bowers
and Winners: Jill Klaffky and Abigail Burke

Sally Rogers was finally able to help us from above and, after years of rain, had the sun shining on the courts for 2016’s “The Sally” platform tennis charity event! There was a strong draw of 32 teams playing primarily at the host club, Fox Meadow Tennis Club, as well as four surrounding facilities. “The Sally” has been held at Fox Meadow Tennis Club in Scarsdale, New York, for over 35 years. It is a competitive, yet friendly, women’s paddle and silent auction event for intermediate to advanced players. “The Sally” is proud to be the largest paddle charity in the country, raising over $55,000 this year thanks to the participants, the silent auction and the very generous sponsors. Proceeds from “The Sally” support the Children’s Village Sanctuary which provides a safe haven for Westchester County (NY) teens who are homeless or have run away, often from unsafe or abusive homes. They come to the shelter voluntarily, often after spending weeks or months on the street. Each year, more than 200 at-risk teens come to the shelter lonely and scared and leave with a safe place to go and a plan for success. We greatly appreciate the wonderful support we have from our participants, many who travel from other states to join us and support the event. Information about Children’s Village, The Sally, and details on the draw can be found at: http://childrensvillage.org/events/thesally/

Last year’s finalist, Abigail Burke, returned to this year’s event with a new partner, Jill Klaffky. They endured a long and tough path to the finals, where they defeated Cecilia Bowers and Jane Foster, 6-1, 6-3.
