APTA Nationals Finalist Captures USTA Grass Court Tennis Titles

APTA 2011 National Men’s Finalist, Matt Porter pulled off a USTA double by winning the Men’s Open Grass Court Championship in singles and doubles.

The tournament was held on the grass courts of the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island in August. After playing six rounds against pros and collegiate players Matt triumphed in the singles final 6-0,6-1. He teamed up friend Kunj Majmudar to win the gold ball in the doubles.

As a result, Porter won a Main Draw Wild Card into a US Pro Circuit Event of his choice. Porter commented, "Although not the goal it is a nice perk and brings be back to my playing days some 14yrs ago."
