Chris Gambino has been voted into the Platform Tennis Hall of Fame by the APTA.2016-Chris Gambino-HOF-250

A resident of Chicago, Gambino will join Barbara “Bobo” Delaney and Mike Gillespie as this year’s honorees. Gambino and Gillespie will be inducted on March 4 at this year’s Nationals in Darien, Connecticut, while Delaney will be inducted in a separate ceremony on Feb. 5 during the Short Hills Invitational.

During his 16 years of outstanding competitive play thus far, Gambino has claimed three Men’s Open national titles and three runner-up finishes with partners David Ohlmuller and Drew Broderick. During one stretch from 2002-2004, Gambino and Ohlmuller lost only one set during a prolific 45-0 winning streak that netted them nine tournament titles.

Gambino also has a Mixed Open title on his Hall of Fame resume, successfully partnering with Gerri Viant in 2000.

“Chris is very well respected in the platform community,” said Steve Baird, chairman of the APTA’s Hall of Fame committee. “Top-tier players are consistently impressed with his tenacity and competitiveness, as well as his conduct and sportsmanship on the court. Chris is truly worthy of joining his long-term partner David Ohlmuller in the Platform Tennis Hall of Fame.”
