APTA Names Shannon Vinson its new Tour Director

As part of its continuing effort to grow the game while offering a better experience for players, volunteers, fans and sponsors, the APTA is excited to announce Shannon Vinson as the newly created APTA Tour Director. Vinson will travel to the Grand Prix and Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed National Championship events, acting as a resource for both players and tournament directors.

Vinson will help tournament directors execute the myriad responsibilities involved in running a major APTA tournament, including closing and posting draws in a timely manner, keeping the matches and players on schedule, recruiting and scheduling umpires, scheduling and troubleshooting Live Streaming, and ensuring the fulfillment of all sponsorship agreements. From the players’ perspective, Vinson will be at each tournament to hear their concerns and help with any issues that might arise.

Vinson’s years of local and national experience made her an obvious choice for this position. As a former tournament director of two National Open Championships, one Mixed Nationals Championships, and eight Chicago Charities tournaments, she is well equipped to help each tournament committee plan and execute its event. By ensuring that a uniform set of requirements is upheld throughout the Grand Prix and National Championship events, players and tournament directors alike can look forward to a 2016-2017 season filled with well run events highlighted by fantastic paddle.
