Grand Slams and APTA Champs Part 3

The final three players in this illustrious group are still playing or are recently retired.

JARED PALMER
TENNIS-Palmer earned the world number one doubles ranking in 2000.  He won the Australian Open doubles in 1995 and added the Wimbledon doubles title in 2001.  He competed in singles in all of the Grand Slam tournaments, reaching the 4th round of the US Open in 1995.
PT-He is the two-time defending APTA National Champion with Drew Broderick.

SUSIE KEANE
TENNIS- Keane achieved a career high WTA ranking of 32 in 1986, and recorded her best Grand Slam result at the US Open in 1984 where she reached the 4th round. 
PT-She partnered with Mary Doten to win six APTA National Championships in eight years, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2010.  In 2010, she was inducted into the Platform Tennis Hall of Fame.

DAVID CALDWELL
TENNIS-A national junior champion and three-time All American at the University of North Carolina, David Caldwell played in the US Open in 1996 and the Australian Open in 1997 and 1999. 
PT-He won two APTA Mixed National Championships with Aila Main, in 2009 and 2013.

There are many other highly credentialed players who either didn’t play in the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament or didn’t win a major APTA National Championship, including Barbara Koegel, Charlotte Lee, Frank Shields, Stan Smith, and Sandra Birch Krusos. Despite lacking one of the requirements for this particular designation, their tremendous accomplishments in the tennis and paddle worlds are also worthy of recognition.
