2014-Lake George Grow the Game

Two platform tennis courts and a warming hut have been constructed at the new Northern Lake George Paddle, LLC. Hall-of-Famer Patty Hogan was the mastermind behind the project, heading a major fund raising effort in the Ticonderoga area. The APTA contributed a “Grow the Game” grant to the club.

The facility is being developed with an emphasis on juniors, both on and off the courts. All juniors play for free. An afterschool platform program will include mentoring and homework assistance. The webpage Lakegeorgeplatformtennis.blogspot.com offers wonderful details of the project; their motto is “Helping kids build a platform for life!”   To be sure, adults are welcomed and encouraged to join in the game.

Hogan says, “The group is super excited to be able to give back to the community and to become a place of guidance and support for the teen community.”

There will be free lessons on July 11 from 9 AM to 11 AM and an official ribbon cutting ceremony on July 12 at 9 AM. Welcome to the game, Adirondacks!
