The MAPTA Adult/Child Tournament Creates Family Memories

The Adult/Child tournament is a unique event that many clubs may want to duplicate. There were two choices of competition—a competitive draw open to all ages and a non-competitive round robin. There were 24 teams in the open draw and 20 in the round robin.

Eric Neissen, the assistant pro from Overbrook Golf Club, has been the tournament chair for the last two years. He has done a great job organizing and promoting this event. The day ended with a party at Waynesborough Country Club where everyone could watch the semi-finals and finals of the competitive draw. There was music and pizza. This year’s event was 100% sponsored by MAPTA (Mid-Atlantic Platform Tennis Association) so there was no entry fee. 

Ann O’Shea, Director of Junior Racquet Sports at Waynesborough, deserves an extra special mention for all she does for this event.
